Thanks to the collaboration of experts from the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno, the Institute of Solid Mechanics, Mechatronics, and Biomechanics, and the medical device manufacturer MEDIN, a.s., methods for securing bone allografts in femoral tumor resection reconstructions have been significantly improved.

A newly published study in PLOS ONE examines the combination of PMMA cement and fixation plates. The results indicate that PMMA significantly enhances structural stability and reduces interfragmentary movement. Plate fixation further reinforces the proximal region, contributing to the optimization of surgical techniques and improved clinical outcomes.
